    Faculty Asynchronous Info. Lit. Portal

    Overview: I informally guided this project at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). Our team of mainly adjunct librarians collaborated in discussing layout and in creating information literacy content that could effectively replace the materials traditionally taught in person. I laid out the main page and various subpages of the portal, advocating for a specific design concept and creating the navigational graphics.

    Business Information Literacy Tutorial

    Overview: At the request of the BMCC Library Director I created a multi-faceted, 4-module information literacy tutorial for the Business Department. Their goal was to better prepare students to transfer to a specifc 4-year college. In collaboration with the transfer school, their information literacy goals were addresed in the development of various content, including videos, interactive tutorials with quizzes, handouts, website links, etc.

    BMCC Research Tutorial

    Overview: After the success of the Business Information Literacy Tutorial, I built a second tutorial geared specifically to meet the research needs of students in English and Speech classes, which are typically the backbone of a library's instruction program. After identifying objectives, videos were created or selected from outside sources, and interactive tutorials were built on popular research subjects.

    Knowledge Creation: A Way to Evaluate Information Video

    Overview: With the objective of teaching students a more effective and robust way to evaluate information, I repackaged the Information Transfer Process, a research model learned in my MLS degree. Powtoons was used to better engage students as were relatable and timely scenarios which require one to evaluate information. Great feedback and YouTube statistics validate the success and efficacy of this content.

    Database Search Process in 3 Steps Video

    Overview: The goal of this video was to simplify the database search process for students. Based on years of teaching this process in the classroom, this video provides the big picture or topic overview then demonstrates the steps of the process through a search on EBSCO’s Academic Search Complete. This video successfully breaks down or scaffolds learning for what can be a confusing process to undergraduate students.

  • HOSTOS Library Guide with embedded videos, website links, and textbook chapters.

    American Government OER Textbook

    Overview: This Library Guide found on the HOSTOS library website serves as the Open Educational Resource (OER) textbook for a popular class at this community college: POL 101: American Government. Videos, website links, and textbook chapters were selected in collaboration with the professor, who provided various sources that were examined for their appropriateness in an OER resource. Copyright issues were resolved and the guide was created in such as way as to minimize any possible copyright infringement.
